All visitors will register in the visitor’s logbook and are subject to search. Times for visitation vary depending on what custody type the inmate is classified as.

Male Inmate Personal Visit Schedule
(Must be incarcerated over 45 days to apply for visitation approval)

  1. General Male Population Personal Visits
    • Inmate personal visits will be scheduled, regardless of last name, on the second and fourth weekends of the month, excluding Christmas weekend.  The Personal Visit Coordinator will return the completed visitation request to the inmate so that the inmate has a minimum of one week notice prior to the scheduled visit.
  2. Protective Custody Male Population Personal Visits
    • Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Female Inmate Personal Visit Schedule (inmate must be incarcerated over 45 days to apply for approval)

  1. Female General Population Visits
    • Sunday: 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  2. Protective Custody Female Population Personal Visits
    • Monday: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  3. State Protective Custody Female Inmate
    • Monday: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Yes. You must call the Somerset County Jail at (908) 231-7150 (option #9) to schedule a time for visitation. If you are not on the schedule or arrive at a different time than scheduled, you will not be allowed within the facility.

You will be visiting an inmate in a booth. No more than (3) visitors will be allowed to enter the visiting booth.

To mail an inmate incarcerated at the Somerset County Jail, be sure you include the Inmates FULL name and Jail Identification Number. Be sure to have the FULL return name and address listed on the mail or the mail will not be delivered.

Inmate phone service for the Somerset County Jail is provided by Global Tele Link (GTL).

  • All phone calls from an inmate are “Collect Calls”
  • Inmate will need an account to use the system.
  • Accounts can be set up by contacting GTL to set up a prepaid account. If the inmate makes a call their phone sheet, the GTL automated system attempt to reach the number being dialed.  When GTL reaches that number the automated system will request the party to set up a prepaid calling account.
  • Once the GTL system receives the funds, the inmate phone call will be allowed to proceed.
